Quick Tip #1

Love bacon but hate the extra fat and calories?  Swap it out with turkey bacon.  I know some of you are cringing at the thought of a bacon subsitute.  I know I did.  But if you fix it up a little it’s not as bad:

Take a few slices turkey bacon and spread with a touch of maple syrup using a brush.  A brush ensures an even coat and reduces the risk of using too much.  Toast bacon (on a pan lined with a Silpat or foil sprayed with nonstick cooking spray) in a toaster oven or regular oven until somewhat crispy.  Don’t let the syrup burn though.

It’s definitely not as good as regular bacon, but if you are really craving something this may just do the trick.

Of course this also works on pork bacon…

Geez, sometimes I think I like bacon better than chocolate.
